Michael Griffiths - Chair
Why you are serving on the Board? I saw CCB as an excellent community organisation and an important pathway for our central coast kids to express themselves and also to give them opportunities to excel and compete and the highest levels. I wanted to use my skills as a company director to assist and grow a Not for Profit local organisation and as I have a passion for sports, I am very excited to be able to have some fun and enjoyment along the way also, whilst staying focused on improving the business of running sport. Your role on the Board I joined the board in 2022. I have a role within the Executive and Finance committees. Your background in relation to your portfolio on the Board I am a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and my expertise and experience is focused of the business side and sustainability of the organisation. I own several businesses on the Central Coast including Queen of Hearts Racing, South End Social and previously Lightning Brokers. I am a board member of You Connect and also the Vice-Chairman of The Entertainment Grounds and Gosford Race Club. I have lived on the Central Coast for all my adult life after meeting my wife Michelle over 20 years ago. We have two boys, Jack and Ethan and we live at Copacabana. We are a sports mad family, and when we aren’t playing sport, we are watching sport!

Damien Sims - Deputy Chair
Why you are serving on the Board? Central Coast Basketball has been a wonderful support and anchor for my basketball obsessed family when we relocated back to the Central Coast. Serving on the board is a way for me to contribute back to our great community and in turn ensure that same opportunity exists for many more families to come. Your role on the Board I’m currently the Deputy Chair of the board and aiming to support our Chair, Kellie and the other board members in building an even stronger Central Coast Basketball organisation. Your background in relation to your portfolio on the Board: With a background in information technology, I have over 25 years’ experience in multi-national organisations and the NSW public service including leading diverse teams in complex environments. I’m driven by performance and improvement in both a personal sense and leaving a positive legacy in the environments to which I’m connected. The Deputy Chair role is an opportunity for me to contribute to the growth and resilience of Central Coast Basketball, as many others have done in the 30 years prior. |

Kellie Hassab - Secretary
Why you are serving on the Board? I’ve been involved with Central Coast Basketball since 2005 through my children. I’ve got such a passion for seeing our great organisation grow and expand, for the benefit of our community. Your role on the Board I have been a Director and part of the Executive Board since 2015. The portfolio on the Board I am leading is Grants and Capital Works Projects. Your background in relation to your portfolio on the Board: My portfolio, Grants and Capital Works Projects, sees me leverage off my extensive professional background in property development. My proudest achievement in this portfolio to date has been leading the design of a potential extension to our stadium to include 2 more courts. More recently we successfully received grant funding though the NSW Office of Sport Grant, for the re-furbished Referee and Change Rooms, with the bathrooms upgrade to follow. There is nothing like seeing an idea come to life, from concept to installation, all for the benefit of our members and community. I balance my Board portfolio between the community, with Central Coast Basketball, and professionally, as a Director of both Beveridge Williams and Association Consulting Surveyors NSW. As a Central Coast resident since childhood, I love enjoying the lifestyle and environment, whilst supporting local business and integrated land development projects, that shape the world in which we live. |

Suzy Miller - Director
Why you are serving on the Board? In everything I do I want to make a difference and leave a legacy. For me, improving the sustainability and diversity for Central Coast Basketball is something I’m really passionate about. Your role on the Board I’m a Director and have been since August 2021. I joined at a difficult time in our organisation’s history, at a time of COVID lockdowns, financial struggles and very limited staff. The portfolio on the Board I am leading is Branding and Community. Your background in relation to your portfolio on the Board My portfolio, Branding and Community, matches my passion for what sport does in a community, in connecting people from all backgrounds and bringing us together, to cheer, encourage and celebrate. Sport is a place that we can all belong and feel connected. It is innately tribal. I’m passionate about building communities for growth and improving gender diversity, which I do in my leadership development businesses. I’ve run businesses since 2011 and have grown 4 brands including start up social enterprises. On the community level, for 7 years I’ve been involved as an Executive with the 5 Lands Walk, supporting their marketing volunteers to bring to life their mantra of connecting people to people and people to place. One of my first initiatives on the CCB board in October 2021 was to proudly lead the Central Coast brand update. I want to see us achieve our potential as a strong sporting partner for the Central Coast Community.

Why you are serving on the board? All organisations have people in roles you see and people working behind the scenes to make things happen. Being on a board is like being a part of a team that focuses on all the elements you don’t see but we need to work to ensure the organisation can move in the right directional and try to deliver a great experience for all the people involved. For me joining the directors at central coast basketball was about helping our community respond post COVID purposefully and make sure our basketball community can thrive.
Your role on the board : I’m a Director and have been since may 2022. Post COVID the team was very slim and focused on keeping the doors open. As we look to the next 5 years, I work with the board and the team with a focus on people initiatives. looking to help strengthen our ability to have the right people with the right skills to take central coast basketball to the next level – be that depth in players from diverse backgrounds, gender representation and a culture where we deploy good people practices.
Your background in relation to your portfolio on the board: As a trained psychologist and professional HR practitioner my expertise lies in helping people and teams maximise their potential. It is not my role to make player selections or coaching appointment or the things that you can see, my focus is on growth of the business in 5 years and making sure we are in a position from a people perspective to deliver on those goals. I am central coat born and bred with a strong passion for sport flowing through my family. Helping central coast basketball not only bounce back from Covid but thrive as a values lead community leader is my goal. |

Why you are serving on the Board: I grew up playing basketball and have experienced firsthand the value it brings to families, kids, and adults alike—fostering connections, building community spirit, and bringing people together. Having made the Central Coast my home, I’m passionate about giving back and helping to grow a strong basketball community in the region.
Your Role on the Board: I serve as the Chair of the Basketball Committee, focusing on promoting high-performance basketball, fostering player development, and driving sustainable growth. My role involves connecting players with the organization to benefit the entire membership base, while also supporting my fellow board members and our Chair, Michael Griffiths.
Your Background in Relation to Your Portfolio on the Board: I’m a Baller at heart, having grown up as a Melbourne Tigers junior representative, progressing from U12s through to the Men’s Championship Division. Over the past 25 years, I’ve held leadership roles with companies like Ford, Google, and Microsoft. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how team sports foster collaboration, skill development, and high performance, inspiring me to give back by helping others thrive and contributing to building great teams and communities. |
